How to Stream to Twitch and Kick at the Same Time

Streaming to two platforms at once (simulcasting) lets you reach both audiences with one broadcast. It is possible with free tools, but a few details decide whether it works well.

Before you start: check both platforms' terms. Some partnership agreements limit simulcasting, and rules about chat or alerts can differ.

Option 1: a restreaming service

A restreaming service takes one stream from OBS and sends it to several platforms. You enter your stream keys once. The upside is that you upload one stream, which saves bandwidth. The downside is possible fees and extra delay.

Option 2: multiple outputs in OBS

With a multi-RTMP plugin you send two separate streams from your computer, one to each platform. This uses more upload bandwidth and CPU, so check your connection first. As a rule, you need enough upload speed for the sum of both bitrates, with headroom.

Setup checklist

  1. Test your upload speed at a time when you usually stream.
  2. Set a bitrate that fits both platforms' recommended range.
  3. Add your two stream keys in the service or plugin. Never share these keys.
  4. Do a private test. Check that both streams start, the audio is in sync and the quality is fine.

Handling two chats

Use a chat tool that combines both chats in one window, so you can read everyone. Say the platform name when you reply, so viewers know where you answered.

Alerts and overlays

Make sure alerts for follows and subscriptions work on both platforms, or keep them platform-specific to avoid confusion.

Do not forget the audience on each side

Mention both platforms in your titles or socials, and give each audience a reason to stay on its side. After a month, compare numbers per platform.
