Why Your Twitch Stream Has 0 Viewers (and What to Fix First)
Zero viewers is the normal starting point, and usually fixable.

Almost every streamer starts with an empty chat. Twitch shows hundreds of thousands of streams, and a new channel without followers or a title that stands out is simply not seen. The good news: zero viewers is usually fixable with a few specific changes. Not sure which number to watch? Read what counts as a viewer on Twitch.
Why it happens
- Discovery is based on the category list. Channels with more viewers are shown higher. A new channel sits at the bottom of a long list.
- No one knows you exist. Without followers and social posts, nobody has a reason to open your stream.
- The stream does not explain itself. A vague title or a missing category gives a stranger no reason to click.
What to fix first
- Choose a smaller category. Big games have thousands of streams. A smaller category puts you higher in the list.
- Rewrite the title. Say what you are doing now, in plain words. Add the language.
- Check audio and the first minute. If new arrivals hear silence or noise, they leave.
- Stream at the same times each week. A pattern is what builds returning viewers.
- Tell people where you stream. Post the link and a clip after each stream on at least one social platform.
- Visit other small streamers. Join their chat and be a real part of it. Some will visit back.
What about the empty-room effect?
New viewers decide quickly. A stream with a few people in chat feels more welcoming than a completely empty one, so the first weeks are the hardest. Some streamers add a short promotional boost to have a fuller counter while they build the rest. If you consider this, read Twitch’s rules first (Twitch rules) and treat it as support, not a replacement for a good stream. See Twitch viewer plans for what the service does.
